Uncluttering Lives

Matthew 6
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?

Unclutter our lives, Lord,
we have too much,
consume too much,
expect too much.

Grant us perspective;
to see this world
through others’ eyes
than just our own.

Grant us compassion;
where there is need
to play our part
not turn aside.

Grant us gratitude
for what we have,
our daily bread,
the gift of life.

Unclutter our lives, Lord,
give us space,
simplicity
thankful hearts.

  1. Thank you for this poem. It's exactly what I need. I'm going to put it on my refrigerator to remind myself to de-clutter.

  2. Love the post, John. I actually had some similar thoughts this morning that I wrote about on my little fellowship's blog.

    I've also enjoyed perusing the liturgies and what-not. Beautiful work!

    Peace...
